US Foreign Policy:  Where are we headed?

Amb Paula Dobriansky, Former UnderSecretary of State and now WACA President

Several months ago a Globe article by Dr Paula Dobriansky proposed a new direction for our foreign policy. Her ideas were seminal, much as had been the 1947 “X Article” in which George Kennan alerted us to the reality of Soviet expansionism and laid the basis for our containment of communism for the next 50 years.  We're delighted that Dr. Dobriansky has agreed to come to Worcester and discuss her ideas with us.

She is a Senior Fellow at Harvard's JFK Belfer Center and Chair of the Board of WACA. From 2010 to 2012 she was Senior Vice President and Global Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Thomson Reuters. She also held the Distinguished National Security Chair at the US Naval Academy.   From 2001 to 2009 she served as Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs, the longest serving Under Secretary in history, and in 2007 she was appointed as the President's Special Envoy to Northern Ireland. She received the Secretary of State's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal for her work in these positions. She has a BSFS summa cum laude from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and an MA and Ph.D in Soviet political/military affairs from Harvard
